Dr. Myrna is a certified pastoral counselor, life, health, and wellness coach, trauma professional, anger management specialist, and dementia practitioner. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Columbia Theological Seminary, the College of St. Elizabeth, Berkeley College, Mercer University, Higher Impact Training and Counseling, the Anger Management Institute, the International Association of Trauma Professionals, the Health Coach Institute, and the Interdenominational Theological Center are among the institutions where Dr. Myrna obtained her formal education and training. She is the co-founder of Soulful Serenity Group, which offers practical educational and self-care strategies for Black women clergy; serves as a mentor in the RISE Together Mentorship Network, where she supports and empowers women of color in ministry, and is a co-founder in Selah, a group of post-graduate African American women clergy who research self-care practices for women of color. Lastly, she is a wife, mother, daughter, advocate, educator, and author who has worked serving marginalized communities for the past 17 years.
Shenese received her Associate of Applied Science in Health Administration and has more than 15 years of working in healthcare administration and is a valuable member of our team. Shenese manages our day-to-day office operations and assists with volunteer staff.
Mr. Darcy has more than 20 years of working and supporting youth and helps our young people become more self-aware and appreciate who they are despite life challenges. His ability to engage each mentee on their level through active listening fosters trust, helps them reframe their circumstances, and changes their self-perception.
With over 40 years of experience working with women, families, and children, Mrs. Ross is an educator and evangelist who provides support and encouragement. She is our boots on the ground, working to increase awareness of our educational programs for clergy and spread the word about our counseling services among the local communities and churches. The Interdenominational Theological Center is where Mrs. Ross obtained her theological education and ministry training. Her efforts enable MHT Family Life Center to improve the lives of the people we assist. Through education and growth, we uphold our compassionate leadership.
Ms. Mitchell attended DeVry University and Passaic Community College for her formal education and development. She has over 40 years of training, development, and customer service expertise. Ms. Mitchell assists MHT Family Life Center in developing and communicating the organization's vision, mission, and strategic goals. She also strives to expand the number of volunteers and community service opportunities.
Mrs. Mitchell-Shumate's formal education and training are in psychology and business. She is creative and has a unique talent for storytelling and creating engaging material, with nearly a decade of management experience. By providing prompt and engaging responses to messages, comments, and mentions, she helps the MHT Family Life Center build relationships with followers and foster meaningful connections with our online customers while enhancing our visibility to attract new clients. Lastly, she plays a role in crisis management and addressing negative comments or issues within the community.
We offer a safe and sacred space for all whom we encounter to acknowledge, honor, and accept themselves which transforms, heals, and makes whole. Leading them to become empowered and re-author their narrative.
